Consolidated Supply traces its roots to Standard Pipe & Plumbing of Kansas City, founded in the 1930s by Max Brown. Following World War II he transformed the business into a wholesale operation and gave it its current name. In the mid - 1950s, the company opened branches in Lincoln, Nebraska and Des Moines, today's only remaining location of the original three.
Sherman Ploeger joined the company in 1961 as an inside sales person specializing in HVAC sales. He soon moved to outside sales and, in 1963, became sales manager. Twenty years later, Ploeger purchased the Des Moines company's outstanding stock from its retiring owner, Raymond Brown, son of the firm's founder. Ploeger now serves this family-owned and -operated company as chairman of the board with sons Gregory ( Vice President ), Gordon ( President ), and daughter Sue ( Accounts Payable ) all actively managing the day to day operations.
The company has grown, moving three times to increasingly larger facilities in Des Moines and establishing branch operations in Adair, Ames, Lamoni and Ottumwa, Iowa.Our growth and success are firmly founded on the high standards established by the company's founders and our unwavering commitment to our customers.
